Isaiah 43:18-19
“Do not remember the former things,Nor consider the things of old.
Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert.”
God is eternally self-existent – He has always been and He always will be. And yet He is the God of today – He is ready to move in our lives to bring us into our destiny. Our part in this is to be ready to shift, change, and transition.
The word shift means “to change the place, position, or direction of” (Merriam-Webster). A car shifts gears in order to go faster – to get to its destination as quickly and efficiently as possible. And so we must be ready to shift – to move up as the Spirit calls us to higher levels in spiritual maturity and to greater sensitivity to the leading of the Holy Spirit. The Word of God is our standard, this will never change. But we must be ready to leave our comfort zones – the way we have always done things, the way we want to always do things – in order to soar in the realm of the spirit.
That brings us to the word “change”. Change means to “make radically different”. Before the Church leaves this earth, there will be a radical transformation in order to bring in the final harvest of the earth. This harvest, as we know, is of men and women and children of all nations. Jesus made a promise that is yet to be fulfilled in our day – “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.” (John 14:12). We have yet to do these “greater works” and so the most exciting days are yet to come!
Transition is a “movement, development, or evolution from one form, stage, or style to another”. This word brings to mind the metamorphosis of a caterpillar to a butterfly. I believe that this natural occurrence is a type and shadow of the transition about to occur in the Church. No demon in hell will stop this transition – however, we as individual members of the church have the choice of whether or not we will be included in the greatest move of God in all of history.
How do we change? It’s quite simple, really. We renew our minds by the Word of God and allow whatever is in our attitudes, our “religious” beliefs and practices, our behavior, our speech to be lined up with His Word, even if it means leaving all we are familiar and comfortable with behind! I must, you must, be willing to change our thinking so the Word can transform us.
Renew our minds to think like God thinks!
We are indeed living in the most pivotal times in history and will be used of God as no one ever has. The earth has never seen what is getting ready to happen in the Church of the Living God – are you willing to shift, change, and transition in order to be a part?
